Microclimatic design is transforming our cities into cool, pleasant places where humanity can retreat from climate extremes.

Global Climate Change and Urban Heat Island Intensification are making cities hotter in summer, and often colder in winter. As more and more people move into cities we need to be able to design our urban environments so they produce pleasant microclimates in all seasons.

I have the pleasure of coordinating a group of visionary researchers and practitioners from all around the world. The Microclimatic-Design Research: Global Network (MDRGN) is researching, discovering, and communicating knowledge about how the landscape creates microclimates, and how those microclimates affect the health and well-being of people. This information is vital for creating pleasant, livable urban environments.

Our team includes faculty and students from some of the top universities in the world, as well as professional planners and designers who are applying microclimatic design knowledge to transform cities.

We hope you will join us on this journey of discovery and transformation. Welcome.
